The temple of Higher Learning, Sree Vidyanikethan, is an intellectual space. In 1992, when we first laid our foundation, we were persistent on imparting quality education to one and all. The immense trust that people have on us has been helping in expanding our stature and commitment towards fulfilling our dream of imparting quality education. Transforming young aspirers into exceptional and outstanding professionals, we have left no stone unturned in assisting our students in realizing their dreams. Our excellent library with thousands of volumes and rare reference books is a hub of great knowledge sharing. Alongside this, first class laboratories and research facilities have been built for various departments of science, technology and engineering.

“Strong mind in a strong adage” is a proverb we truly believe in. We therefore give equal importance to sports and games and encourage participation. Our students have shown exemplary performance bringing laurels to our institution and we take immense pride in them.

ABOUT PRINCIPAL

Introduction: My name is Kieran Eugene Rigney and I have recently been appointed Principal of SVIS. I hail from Ireland and after graduating from University College Dublin (UCD) I completed my M.Sc. in Reading, UK. I spent 5 years working in Agrochemical sales after which I undertook my Teacher Training (PGCE). I have been teaching science for 15 years in UK schools and have spent the past few years as Principal in schools in Phuket, Thailand, Abuja in Nigeria and now SVIS, Tirupati.

PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGE

I have spent 22 years as a teacher working in the UK, Asia and Africa. The biggest challenges I have faced this school year are getting to know a new community, staff, and students; building relationships with different people; and learning the workings of an Indian school, which has a different culture from my previous positions.

I believe that what we do in school is vital to our world in many ways. Locally, we provide students with a sense of belonging and we connect them to their community. Also, we encourage students to have a positive outlook for what we do as a city. Nationally, we help to develop young people who can examine events within the context of a multicultural nation and understand different viewpoints.

Globally, we want to develop perceptive individuals who have empathy for others and think about the impact their actions will have on those around them. I believe that a strong school leader is someone who can balance being a collaborative administrator within a learning community, an individual manager whom others seek for guidance, and a discerning principal who makes child-focused decisions.

I learn new things each day and that keeps me going. It’s like teaching a new subject for the first time. You’re nervous and you may feel that you’re not as prepared as you’d like to be. However, as the months roll by, you discover things that you didn’t know about yourself and about the students you teach. That’s motivating! Also, each child has a story that needs to be heard. We must take time to hear those stories. We teach children, not subjects — that is important to remember.

IntroductionAdmission to Vidyanikethan not only depends on the examination results. Although a satisfactory result is expected in the common admission test, the other focal points for acceptance are sound character and willingness to work together with a determination to make the best out of what we offer.

Age Requirement Subjecting to availability of seats at SVIS, we admit all the students within the normal range of ability. Normal minimum ages as on 30th Aug. in the academic year of entry are as follows:

• Class IV : 8 + years
• Class V : 9 + years
• Class VI : 10 + years
• Class VII : 11 + years
• Class VIII : 12 + years
• Class IX : 13 + years
• Class X : 14 + year
• Class XI: 15 + yrs.
• Class XII: 16 + yrs.

BOARDING

Residential life helps the school community recognize the uniqueness of each individual and enables its members to synergize in an enriching manner. Boarders grow in self – reliance and develop independent living skills in stimulated surroundings. They learn to identify and respond to their own needs to feed for themselves and to collaborate with each other. They develop a spirit of camaraderie in an atmosphere of openness and learn to take responsibility for their own decisions.

SVIS students will get the opportunity to cultivate Indian culture as well as grow sensitive to the manners and students from different states and countries.

Enrolment options

DAY SCHOLAR

Our day boarding system makes the school unique in character by providing small class strength, value based learning, lateral thinking exercise, life skills development, unique curriculum, continuous professional development programmes for qualified and experienced teachers. This is followed by lunch and snacks with quality food giving impetus to etiquettes and table – manners followed by a wide spectrum of sports and co-curricular activities.

REGISTRATION

When a student’s application for admission has been approved, the parent/guardian is expected to make fee payment within a week’s time. This completes their registration process and the students are then considered formally a part of the Vidyanikethan student community.

Documentation The following are the documents to be enclosed along with the application form.

• Attested copy of the Birth Certificate,
• Copies of the candidate’s school reports and transcripts for the current year and/or completed year (in English). Additionally, a bonafide certificate from the School in which the candidate is studying may be submitted,
• 3 passport-size colour photographs of the candidate,
• Transfer Certificate

Please note that the admission procedure will be considered incomplete unless the Transfer/Birth certificate of the ward is produced.

INFRASTRUCTURE

Sprawling campus with peaceful environment, mega infrastructure catering to every need of the students, both for intellectual and physical activities, state-of-the art facilities Vidyanikethan truly portrays the dream of Chairman Dr. M. Mohan Babu. Great care and attention has been taken to provide only the very best to the students.

The atmosphere is conducive to self-research. The dorms are spacious and each of them is equipped with a spacious study room, well ventilated with windows covered with mesh.

Classrooms

All the classrooms are equipped with LCD projectors for teaching purpose. In order to make the teaching more competitive in the modern knowledge society, we, at Vidyanikethan, have established electronic classrooms. They are essentially smart classrooms equipped with colour monitors, LCD Projectors, are latest software and internet connectivity which enables the bright students to acquire the knowledge at a faster rate and the slow learners to learn at their own pace. The multimedia floor contains Sree Vidyanikethan’s extensive audio/visual collection. There is also a reserve collection, where students can find material that teachers have set aside for them. An e-reserve system makes many reading assignments available on-line.

‘A-V’ classes are taken up in e-smart room for classes as per the requirement of the syllabus, providing better understanding and creating strong memories through visual experience.

TABs

The students are provided Tablets with the digital content of the textbook materials, worksheet, and assessments through open internet access. No other external access is allowed for Tablets.

Labs

The school is has well-equipped Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Computer Lab, English and Mathematics Labs for the use of the students.

Entertainment

There is no way life can be all about education and studies. Student life needs to be well supplanted with proper entertainment. We at SVIS provide television and other means of entertainment to refresh a student’s mind, adding a sense of regular refreshment. Each hostel block has a common room with television, music system and many indoor games. Old classics and latest movies are screened every Saturday except during the exams. Sunday is a day off so students are free to watch television and do their activities as mentioned in the daily schedule.

Newspaper

All that the student has to know about the outside world is generously gained from reading newspapers. We provide the facility to read the newspaper and get to know what is happening with the world outside the four walls.

Sports

“All work and no play make Jack a dull boy!” We attach importance to on-field physical activities including sports like Cricket, Tennis, Basketball, Volleyball, Football and many more. Alongside studies, students are given equal opportunity to take part in sports and other cultural activities.

We at SVIS encourage our students to participate in all competitions with no consideration given to winning or losing. We believe in participation. Able players are given encouragement to compete at the highest level under the guidance of expert coaches. We take pride in saying that our students have competed in the state and national level competitions and won laurels for the school.

Dining

The dining hall is a natural spot of social life at Sree Vidyanikethan. The boarders have all their meals here. It is spacious and can accommodate 900 students at the same time. The food served is healthy, tasty and nutritious. The kitchen is equipped with modern cooking facilities and is hygienically maintained.

The kitchen maintenance and running is taken care by a qualified catering manager, who is adept in the knowledge of Nutrition and Dietetics. The cafeteria-style menu is varied and well balanced, offering choices of vegetarian/Non Vegetarian and catering, where necessary for special dietary needs. We have mineral water plant that supplies bacteria free fresh drinking water cleanly pumped to the hostels, cafeteria, and class rooms.

Housing

The school has a total of three hostel blocks, each of them having the capacity to accommodate 100 students. The hostel blocks are constructed in such a manner that aerially they depict the letter BABU M, the name of our beloved Chairman. Each block is divided into 10-15 dormitories, which can accommodate 8-12 students each. All of the dorms are spacious and well ventilated with windows covered with mesh. Washrooms and toilets are hygienically maintained. The whole campus is vigilant with round the clock security, with more than 40 security guards who are mostly ex-servicemen. The campus also enjoys a 24 hour uninterrupted power supply.

Mail services

Our institution is well equipped with computer labs in addition to e-classrooms with state of the art infrastructure and facilities. In addition, the campus has round the clock internet service. It also functions on Sundays and any other holidays and students are encouraged to make the best use of the labs.

Scholarships

Scholarships are awarded to students who are unable to fund themselves, but show interest in studies. Students from the backward classes would be given concessions. Scholarship based on Merit is awarded to the diligent and hardworking students. Hence we promote a healthy space for academics while understanding the need for an unbiased education system for all.

Transportation

We ensure transportation for all the day-scholars who commute from different areas in Tirupati. Buses are provided on a convenient basis. We provide a fleet of buses for the school and college students.

Care & Wellbeing

SVEI is deeply committed to safety, wellness, and outstanding healthcare as part of the Institution’s wellbeing principle. We are equipped with a 24 hour medical facility on campus, with two qualified staff nurses. A General Physician regularly visits the school.

All safety equipment is available on the campus in case of emergency. We also aim to provide health insurance for the students for their well-being.
